Dyson goes native
Last Friday Dyson launched a mini vacuum cleaner designed just for the Japanese market. The DC26 is A4 sized and aimed at households living in small apartments - 40m² is about the norm in Tokyo.
Dyson has successfully established a premium position in a market which is largely dominated by domestic goliaths like Panasonic.
This new item goes on sale on the 10th April and will be priced at JPY74,000 (c. USD 752). Dyson aims to sell 25 million units in the first year, a number which sounds quite aggressive, at least to this blogger.
Whatever, hats off to a company that is flexible enough to change its approach.
